I can understand how this is funny to some people, but I’ve never really understood the idea that smoking marijuana makes you stupid. Marijuana impairs your short term memory, but how does it make you stupid? I graduated near the top of my class from one of the best undegraduate programs for my concentration in the country, and went on to get a graduate degree as well. I smoked weed daily throughout that entire time (sometimes before I’d go to class or even take a test). If anything, it put me at ease so that I didn’t snap on the people I dealt with daily that WERE stupid.
There are stupid people who smoke weed, just like there are stupid people who drive cars, and stupid people who live in the apartment above you or own the dog that shits on your lawn every week. But “stoners are stupid” is just perpetuating a stereotype that doesn’t align with reality. Many of the most interesting, artistic, and intelligent people I know also happen to be habitual marijuana smokers too.
